AdamsSong.net's Steps for Grieving!
Exercise your right to proper burial/cremation:
You have a human right to the proper disposition of the remains of your child, even if state law has not yet caught up to it. Even in states where no law specifically protects you, there are often people who have a heart to help parents seeking such closure. It is worth the time to make sure this happens as it is an essential part of the grief process.
Name your child:
Honoring your child with a name shows the significance that he/she played in your life. Your child was not just an event, but a person. People here and in heaven are known to us by name.
Recognize your parenthood:
Society and even our family and friends will many times not understand that life for you has changed from the moment you first realized you had created a new life. If you don't allow yourself to see the reality of your parenthood your feelings could be confusing even to you.
Get and maintain a system of support:
Take everything at your own pace, but seek support groups that can help you through these new feelings. Even if you do not feel you NEED help, sometimes it is simply nice not to feel like you are the only one with these feelings. If you are feeling okay, help someone else.

Become a state representative!
You can help make parental rights a reality by becoming a state representative. Devote some time to finding out what the laws are in your state.
Are parents allowed to bury the remains of their child in the event of miscarriage?
Do those rights cover parents from conception to birth or are they limited to certain time periods?
Are parents notified of their rights or is the burden on them to find out their rights during these difficult times?
Let us know how we can help!
